Lovers of marmalade will get the chance to spend a week celebrating their favourite breakfast spread in Cumbria.
The 7th annual World's Original Marmalade Awards & Festival signals the start of the first National Marmalade Week. The marmalade-flavoured week starts with the British Awards & Festival at Dalemain Mansion, Lake District, during which the best spread in the categories Family, Children, Serious Artisan, Commercial Producer, B&B Owner, Cooker School, International, Heritage (old family recipes) and Organic/ Special will be chosen. Entries are now needed in this year's contest.
Last year's top prize is now being sold at Fortnum & Mason in London. This prize will again be on offer for this year's best marmalade.
Entries for the Artisan and B&B/ Hotel Awards must arrive by February 10, 2012, amateur entries by February 17. Judges for the amateur categories include preserving expert and author Pam Corbin and Dan Lepard, award-winning baker and Guardian food writer.
