Chocolate Week

The country’s finest chocolatiers and chocolate shops will be taking part in Chocolate Week, which runs from 15th to 21st October. Foodies and chocoholics will get the chance to meet chocolatiers, make chocolate, view chocolate sculptures and fountains, listen to the experts at talks and demonstrations and, of course, indulge in some of the finest chocolate available (including new chocolates created exclusively for Chocolate Week). As well as chocolate talks, tastings and demonstrations going on around the country, Waitrose will be running in-store promotions and the launch of The Chocolate Hotel in Bournemouth will be taking place.
This year’s Chocolate Week celebrations encourage consumers to hold their own chocolate tasting events at home. A downloadable chocolate tasting sheet will be available on the Chocolate Week website featuring some stellar chocolates. The Academy of Chocolate have carefully selected some of the best chocolate bars available in the UK and provided tasting notes detailing the diverse range of flavour profiles found in the bars. Bars from all over the World, made in France and Italy with beans from countries such as Venuezuela, Ecuador and the Caribbean are included as recommendations.
Chocolatiers and shops are taking part by holding their own events and promotions, including: L'artisan du Chocolat, Chococo, Damian Allsop Chocolates, Demarquette, Divine Chocolate, La Maison du Chocolat, Harrods, Melt, Paul A Young, Rococo, Seventypercent, and William Curley.
One of the highlights of this year’s Chocolate Week is the opening of The Chocolate Hotel in Bournemouth. This boutique style hotel is the first of its kind in the World with chocolate themed rooms, a chocolate fountain in the reception area, chocolate afternoon teas, chocolate cocktails in the bar and chocolate tastings and workshops.
This years Chocolate Week is overseen by the Academy of Chocolate. Sara Jayne-Stanes OBE, Chair of the Academy says: “If you like chocolate - real chocolate, that is (the intensely dark and exciting sort that floods the taste buds with overtones of spice, fruit and cocoa) - then you will love Chocolate Week. We’ve got some very prestigious partners for this year’s event and a wealth of exciting events planned throughout the week. You'll be in chocolate heaven”.
