Real Food Festival

Real Food Festival

The Real Food Festival 2009 will be taking place at London’s Earls Court from the 8th – 10th May 2009. Celebrating its second anniversary, the Real Food Festival, is much more than a food market. Packed with events for the whole family, including some very friendly livestock, it's also a chance to challenge your preconceptions about the food that you eat, to taste food as it really should be and to meet the people who grow, nurture and produce it. The Real Food Festival will demonstrate how choosing food that is fresh, in season and produced with care, not only tastes fantastic but it won't blow your budget either. Highlights of this year’s show will include a Real Food Market, master chefs in action, hands-on workshops and passionate debate about the future of our food.

The Real Food Market With the credit crunch still ringing in people’s ears, visitors to the Real Food Festival will be able to buy direct from producers, which can help to reduce costs. At the same time, when visitors buy direct, they are ensuring that the producers are getting a fair reward for their work and that customers’ money stays within local communities. The Real Food Festival is unique in that it directly subsidises the small producers that showcase at the event. Visitors are not only unlikely to have seen them at any other food show, but ticket sales also directly contribute to helping local prodcuers’ businesses succeed.

Master chefs in action A range of chef talent will be on display at this years Real Food Festival, including Raymond Blanc, Thomasina Miers, Tom Parker-Bowles, Ollie Rowe, Geetie Singh, Willie Harcourt-Cooze and Arthur Potts-Dawson.

Cookery School Swot up on how to beat the credit crunch and still eat wonderful food. Barny Haughton and his team will be bringing the Bordeaux Quay Cookery School back to this years Real Food Festival. Visitors can roll up their sleeves and join Barny Haughton in learning tips and techniques on how to buy and prepare the finest quality ingredients on a tight budget.
