Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival 2010

Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival 2010

The Brighton and Hove Food and Drink Festival, the edgiest food festival on the south coast, is kicking off on September 1st 2010. The festival will be comprised of lots of mini events. Some will be free to enter, while some charge, with prices ranging from £6 to around £30.

Events will include:

  • An opening ceremony at Brighton Racecourse on Wednesday the 1st September, with a market of local food, acitivites for kids, and a charity Waiters Race. Entry to this is £14 for aduluts and free for under 18s.
  • Wine tastings at the Hotel du Vin, costing £10 per head. These will be starting on the 1st September but will continue beyond the festival every Monday and Wednesday throughout September.
  • On Saturday 4th September, Bridgette Saunders will be signing copies of her Allotment Gardening book, a free event with nibbles.
  • A saké tasting will be taking place on Sunday 5th.
  • A Winter Salads course (£10/£5) on Thursday 9th September is also planned as part of the festival.

There will also be longer events running throughout the week. A pop up restaurant will be opening at The Garden House for the week, and a “World Food Trail” will be running at various international restaurants around Brighton and Hove all week, with mini tastings and mini tapas-sized dishes to buy. This is a refreshingly different food festival, where some big trends will be celebrated, and some totally random and obscure events too.
