The Boaters Inn has bagged an enviable spot on the stretch of The Thames between Kingston and Teddington Lock.
What better excuse to eat that glorious staple, topped with a great big pillow of pastry than British Pie Week? March 1st - 7th are the dates to mark in your culinary calendar for scoffing steak & ale pie, chicken & mushroom pie, apple & cinnamon pie… or whatever other pie delight takes your fancy!
The week-long celebration of this national dish is organised by the people at Jus Roll who believe that a pie is one of civilisation’s greatest culinary inventions, born through a combination of genius and passion. And we couldn’t agree more.
Check out the website for recipes and create your own, or make a beeline for The Gun in Docklands, where for just £10 you can furnish yourself with a pint of London Pride and a 1950’s London Pie (mince and potato with a tomato chessboard top); or to Canteen, where you’ll find pies filled with pork, cider and mustard, or jerusalem artichoke, cashel blue and lemon.

OH I DO LOVE A PIE!
So much so that I run pie making classes in my little cookery school in North London!
Once you have mastered the art of the perfect pastry, you can just about put anything in a pie! What about Sunday roast leftovers pie?.. and save that gravy!
Many thanks "I love my Grub"
