Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at The Mandarin Oriental

Dinner by Heston Blumenthal at The Mandarin Oriental

This December will be a very exciting month at the Mandarin Oriental in London. Heston Blumenthal of the world famous Fat Duck restaurant will be launching not just a new dinner menu, but a new restaurant called Dinner.

Everything at Dinner will be very, very British. As everybody knows, it’s never just about the food with Heston, and internationally renowned designer, Adam Tihany has been employed to design a unique, bespoke interior. Tihnay plans to use traditional materials such as wood, leather and iron and use them to create a very up-to-date space, echoing the modernised traditional fare Heston’s team will be cooking up behind the scenes.

And what will be on this renaissance of a menu? Heston will be drawing inspiration from the gastronomic past, going as far back as Tudor times. There will be dishes such as Scallops with Cucumber Ketchup and Peas, Bergamot cured Mackerel Salad and Slow Cooked Short Rib of Beef.

'Dinner' traditionally means the biggest meal of the day, and Heston’s 'Dinner' will be serving a three course set lunch priced at £25, and a three course a la carte supper priced at £55. So whether you like your main meal in the middle of the day or in the evening, dinner will be served at Dinner.

To find out more about this intriguing new venture from Britain’s most fearless and eccentric chef, visit the Mandarin Oriental website. Dinner will be taking reservations from the middle of October 2010. Judging by the popularity and exclusivity of The Fat Duck, you’d be wise to get in early.
