The Experimental Food Society will be hosting a one day event on the 25th of September 2010, celebrating all the quirky things people do with food. In the words of the organizer, Alexa Perrin, “‘it is not just what you eat but how you eat it’.

The event, called the The Experimental Food Society Spectacular, will be taking place in two halves. First there will be a day time exhibition which is just £5 for a ticket, and later on there will be an evening banquet, which will be £75 for a ticket. The day time exhibition will bring a whole new meaning to the idea of a food show, and will be more like a food gallery.

There will be installations and exhibits by a whole range of creative foodies, including: ACMD Productions, Paul Baker, Blanch & Shock, Bompas & Parr, Carl Warner, Caroline Smith aka Mertle, Choc Star, Gingers Comfort Emporium, Jennifer Allum, Lady Greys, Lana Citron, Lily Vanilli, Love To Cake, Michelle Wibowo, Paul Wayne Gregory, Pop Bakery, Professor Roland Rotherham, Prudence Emma Staite, Rebel Dining Society, Sharon Baker, Simon Smith, Stefan Gates, Teatime Production and The Curious Confectioner.  The event will also feature a guest appearance by international chocolate painter Sid Chidiac.

There will also be such novelties as cake-artists, butter and chocolate sculptors, and “food landscapers”. For the lucky 100 attending the evening meal the artworks will be eaten as part of a five course menu designed by The Brickhouse’s head chef, Mather Reuter and The Experimental Food Society. The meal promises to be not just about taste, but to be a multi sensory experience.

Alexa Perrin says: “The pleasure of food, both emotional and psychological, has been utilized to great effect in the past, delighting, surprising and inspiring its recipients. The Experimental Food Society is born out of a desire to revive food as an art form and change the landscape of food events forever.

You’ll have to see it to believe it with The Experimental Food Society’s Spectacular. For more information and to purchase tickets, go to www.experimentalfoodsociety.com.
