A new film providing an insight into the workings of the global commercial food industry is to premier in the UK on the 8th February 2010 at Mayfair's Curzon cinema, London. The feature length documentary, Food, Inc. investigates the “highly mechanized underbelly that's been hidden from the consumer with the consent of government’s regulatory agencies.” From perfectly shaped vegetables, bigger breasted chickens and tomatoes that don’t go bad, the film takes a look at the use of chemicals in food production and their effect on the consumer, those working in the food industry and the planet as a whole.
It may not make for appetising viewing, but the more viewers know about how their food is produced, the easier it is to make an informed choice at the supermarket checkout. The UK’s organic farming body, The Soil Association, has been named as Food, Inc.'s official charity partner.
