Everything about this cook book is relaxed, unhurried, calm.
River Café co-Founders Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers have been awarded MBEs after being recognised for their 21 years in the hospitality industry. Roger and Gray opened the highly acclaimed River Café, which serves robust Italian food, in 1987. The restaurant has trained household names in cooking such Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, and was awarded a Michelin star in 1998.
Together, Rogers and Gray have written 10 cookbooks and have presented TV series on Italian cooking for Channel 4. They have also supported charities such as Cook in Schools, Refuge, and The Dyslexia Institute, as well as others throughout the years. The café closed for refurbishment in 2008 after a fire in the kitchens. It reopened seven months later to fresh compliments and good reviews.
