Everything about this cook book is relaxed, unhurried, calm.
Restaurants Against Hunger is an international group of restaurants, chefs, and food writers, working to support the charity Action Against Hunger and its goal to end child hunger. Restaurants Against Hunger has been supporting this brilliant cause now since 1998.
Partaking restaurants donate money when people dine at their restaurants. Last year 500 restaurants took part in the campaign, raising a substantial total of over £400,000.
This year Eddie Gilbert’s restaurant in Ramsgate is joining Restaurants Against Hunger. Eddie Gilbert’s will be donating 50p to Action Agaisnt Hunger for every turbot that is ordered (fillet of wild turbot, ratatouille, roasted vine cherry tomatoes, with wild garlic and balsamic dressing… yum!) They will also be donating 25p for every bottle of Mainart Chardonnay 2007 that is ordered, which will be matched by Hix & Buck, the wine suppliers. This makes the total charitable contribution of £1 made when this combination is ordered. It’s as easy as that.
Eddie Gilbert’s owner, Jonny Dunhill, said of Restaurants Agaisnt Hunger:
“This is a practical way where we, our suppliers and customers can help make a small contribution to those less well off.”
Restaurants Against Hunger is indeed a brilliantly simple way of raising money for a hugely important cause. For more information about which restaurants are taking part, as well as what certain restaurants are doing and when, check out the Action Against Hunger website.

Eddie Gilbert's
Great place to eat. Jay Rayner raved about it in The Observer. Booking is essential.
