Everything about this cook book is relaxed, unhurried, calm.
A Virtual Farmers Market (VFM) has launched to great interest in the world of food media. Founder Marcus Carter came up with the idea of an online version of the traditional market while working on a stall at a London farmer's market. The online market let’s shoppers ‘walk’ though a computer generated market of 45 producers from across the UK. Unlike existing online shopping sites VFM has a variety of products from meat to cheese and fish as well as store cupboard regulars, and allows you to ‘meet’ the producer before purchasing.
The VFM already stocks over 250 products and with more being added regularly. Once ordered and paid for via the usual secure connections, the products are dispatched overnight via a warehouse in London’s Canary Wharf for a charge of around £12. The site also has a minimum order of £35. It might not be as rewarding as being able to touch and smell produce, but it’s a solution for those who are time poor and want to maintain a connection with the producer of the food that they eat.
