Heart shaped brie from Waitrose for loved-up cheese fans

Heart shaped brie from Waitrose for loved-up cheese fans

A good, gooey brie stands up all on its own, but make it heart shaped and it just gets all the more delightful. This cute little number from Waitrose is available from their cheese counter, well-timed for Valentine's Day obviously. For the at-a-glance cynic is might just look like another Valentine's Day money-spinner, but this heart-shaped brie or 'Coeur de Bray' as it's originally known, has authentic romantic origins. During the Hundred Years' War it was made by maidens in Normandy to give to English soldiers, as an affectionate gift. Ahhhhhhhh.

For extra impact, serve this cheese up on a dark slate cheeseboard for some contrasting wow factor. Or, if you can't wait, slice it straight down the middle and go halves. Yum.

Available from the cheese counter at Waitrose , priced at £3.99 for 200g.
