340g wholemeal flour
113g plain white flour
1 tsp salt
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1/2 pint buttermilk
Butter

Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 220C/gas mark 7. Sift the wholemeal flour, white flour, salt and bicarbonate of soda, and mix thoroughly. Make a well in the centre and add the buttermilk. Mix the ingredients into a soft dough. Lightly flour a clean surface and knead the dough lightly so that it is a couple of inches thick, and in a rectangle shape. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake in the oven for 30 minutes.

Spread with smooth rich Irish Kerrygold butter and enjoy!
