Innocent smoothies

Nobody seems to do smoothies quite as well as the people at Innocent. Full-mouthed gulps of their fruity range of drinks will have you hooked from the first sip. Whilst they fantastically refrain from adding any unnatural elements to their drinks, they are also hell bent on coming up with some of the greatest fruit flavours for their little bottles of juiciness. One that particularly stood out for us was the “slow release energy” combination of guavas, mangoes and goji berries – yes please I will have another, and another…

If Innocent’s little bottles of fruit smoothies aren’t quite enough for your demands, they serve up a range of flavours in large cartons, ready to live in the fridge for all of two seconds. Besides some great traditional flavours in their clutch, Innocent also shout about super fruits with combos such as pomegranates, blueberries and acai. Fruit anyone? Yes please.

Tree teas

These eco-friendly little boxes of tea will lighten your day with their blend of tree leaves, flower petals and herbs all wrapped up in 100% recyclable packaging.

The team behind tea trees are passionate about making great teas to boost your health and well being whilst making sure the planet prospers too. There are three main tea flavours in their range; Beauty, Love and Freedom all of which come in little boxes emblazoned with comical notes about their benefits.

"Beauty" is made up of a simple blend of birch tree leaves, ash tree leaves and peppermint to cleanse the skin and calm the stomach. It tastes refreshingly light - an easy tea to sip without too many flavours clamouring for attention. “Tea to make you beautiful” states the message on the box of tea bags – well I didn’t turn into Cameron Diaz overnight, but it tasted as though it was doing my insides some good. Very drinkable too which makes consuming the whole box of teabags a decidedly pleasurable experience.

”Love” has been created from a blend of hawthorn, red rose petals, dandelion and lavender for their intoxicating, aphrodisiac qualities. A more complex bunch of flavours here, which give off a subtle scent of cinnamon with a warning on the packet that “drinking this tea may lead to inappropriate behaviour”. Certainly perks you up but that’s all I’m prepared to divulge…

”Freedom” is a feisty blend of ash tree leaves, hawthorn, rosemary and St Johns Wort – a “subtle but powerful. Blended for the silent warrior within”. The rosemary wins over your nose in this blend while the other flavours offer up a calming tea that strengthens your digestion leaving you with plenty of energy to go and pour another cup. Tree teas are lovely little teas to feed your sense of humour as well as your soul.

Percol Honduras Coffee

Percol have released Honduras just in time for Easter. The coffee, which has a real depth of flavour and some lovely chocolaty overtones, is best paired with a slice of cake or a handful of chocolates.

Percol pride themselves on producing Fairtrade coffee which ensures that coffee growers get the best deals for their harvests and buyers can be safe in the knowledge that their purchase is making a positive impact on the lives of coffee growers.

Percol's range also bears detailed tasting notes on every packet of coffee describing the taste, smell and strength of the product. Each packet lists the country and area of origin along with interesting snippets of information about the provenance of the bean that has been used, including the situation of the soil, climate and plant variety.

Pomegreat Super Juice Drink

Pomegreat have come up with a carton full of the mouth-watering juice of eight pomegranates. If you've ever bought a pomegranate with the intention of coaxing the luscious fruity pips of goodness out from the tight grip of the fruit's shell, you might just be as relieved as we are at iLoveMyGrub.com to reach for a carton of the stuff.

The Pomegranate fruit looks as inviting as it tastes, but there are logisistical difficulties when it comes to eating the fruit inside. If, like us you've attempted this, you might have found yourself splattered in pomegranate juice (which tastes great) but sadly gets nowhere near your mouth. If you've also dared to attempt this whilst sitting at your desk at work, your colleagues might be forgiven for suspecting that a murder has occurred near by as they lie witness to the 3-metre wide expanse of desk space that is covered in blood-red liquid.

What a relief the to find that Pomegreat have done the legwork for us and squeezed the juice into the carton themselves (goodness knows what their office looks like). It's refreshing as a drink in its own right, but also lends itself well as a cocktail mixer and tastes fabulous mixed with vodka or sparkling wine.

Besides it tasting light and lovely on the palette it also helps to reduce cholesterol and contains half of the vitamins A, C and E that you need daily. Tasty and good for you. Yum.

Oatly drink

Oatly have come up with an alternative drink for people who would rather bypass dairy and soya-based milk drink options. Oatly Enriched is made from oats and water and fortified with vitamins.

The drink has a slightly oily taste to it (which probably stems from the rape seed oil which is added to it). This might take a bit of getting used to for dairy milk drinkers, but Oatly has a natural sweetness to it which is very appealing.

It's health benefits are well worth a taste - drinking Oatly will help to lower your cholesterol levels with one glass containing 38% of the daily recommended allowance of calcium.

Oatly can be served up with porridge, in tea and many other tasty ways. The company have also come up with a very comical approach to their packaging, extolling the virtues of oats and their goodness. A real alternative to milk and soya - Oatly comes in cartons to stick in your fridge and lasts for at least six months in the fridge unopened.

Oatly chocolate drink

Oatly have come up with a new edition for their soya and dairy free product range of oat-based drinks.

Following on from Oatly's oat milk drink range is Oatly Chocolate - a mix of oat milk, cocoa and a little added sugar. The result is a very natural tasting chocolate drink that tastes very milky and clean without an overbearing sweetness. The company's concerted effort not to add too much sugar has paid off and makes this chocolate offering from Oatly taste reassuringly of chocolate and not sugar.

The great thing about this drink is it's actually good for you too. Okay so it does contain sugar, but only 3 grammes of the sugars in the drink are added sugars - the rest is made up of natural sugar from oats. The milk itself is produced from a mix of water and oats giving the drink a high fibre content and a low fat content. A 100ml glass of Oatly Chocolate drink contains 1.5 g of fat, 0.2 g of which is saturated fat.

Aside from being a good drink option for people with lactose or soya intolerance it's also just a great drink. Serve chilled or hot and enjoy.
