Champagne Marmite

Champagne Marmite

As if there’s not enough of a divide between the lovers and haters of this yeast extract, Marmite have added another dimension to their traditional recipes. Champagne Marmite has hit the shelves just in time for loved-up Marmite fans to nip down to the supermarket, purchase a jar and smear it all over…well, toast or something.

If anyone remembers the Guiness Marmite released last year, they may also remember that it didn’t taste all that different from Marmite’s original recipes. Champagne Marmite has a much stronger, more distinct flavour, so get that thick slice of toast ready. As Marmite fans will know, you’re either a thicky or a thinny (nothing to do with IQ or dress-size, but more to do with how much Marmite you slap onto toast).

There are 600,000 jars of this limited edition available in the shops in the run up to Valentine’s Day. Selfridges have gone one step further and commissioned jewellery designer Theo Fennel to create 50 jars, complete with a sterling silver engraved lid at a bargain price of £145. Ouch. You could always go for substance over style, and purchase a standard jar from your local supermarket at the grand old price of £2.99. Hurry though as Champagne Marmite is a limited edition.
