The Volupté Lounge is the modern equivalent of this once so popular amusement. Navigating the side streets of Chancery Lane, away from the prying eyes of High Holborn, the Norwich Street venue is marked with a ‘V’ above the door of its otherwise secretive location.

Wallace and Co

SW15 2SW London Putney 146 Upper Richmond Road, Wallace & Co is located in a huge space for Putney, where real estate is premium. This new venture from MasterChef's Greg Wallace, has obviously been based on substantial research. The space they have created is casual and homely and it feels as though you are walking into a terraced house dining room in this South West London suburb. It’s replete with exposed brick walls, stripped wooden floors and kitchen dining tables.

Waterloo Bar & Grill

SE1 8UL London 119 Waterloo Road Formerly Waterloo Brasserie, this restaurant and bar is slap bang opposite The Fire Station pub next to Waterloo Station. Having eaten here whilst it was still the brasserie, I’ve always been a fan of the restaurant. It’s a versatile place – great for some pre-theatre cocktails, sat up at the sleek bar bar, great for some really decent jazz if you visit on the right night, and great for some classic dishes at reasonable prices.
